Durham, N.C. — With 14 huge economic projects underway in Durham – and more jobs increasing by the day – the economic forecast for the Bull City’s future is looking bright.
Applause filled the Carolina Theatre on Wednesday as more than 100 people celebrated a shift in the local economy.
Wednesday was the first time in two years people were able to gather in-person at such a capacity. The mask mandate has been lifted, and people are finding a sense of normalcy again.
It marked a pivotal moment in this pandemic – and in the plan to get the local economy back on track.
“This past weekend was like record-breaking for sales across-the-board for small businesses. Even my restaurant. We haven’t seen those numbers since pre-pandemic,” said Durham councilman Leonardo Williams.
