A man believed to be responsible for the recent string of Dollar General robberies is behind bars, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
Tyre-Andre “Ty” Ranch, 18, has been charged with three counts of armed robbery for the Dollar Generals.
The first store was robbed March 21 at Highway 182 and Dowdle Drive east of Columbus. The second was March 24 on Highway 12 in north Lowndes County. The third was April 7 on Pleasant Hill Road.
He is also facing a fourth armed robbery charge for a home invasion. It was that home invasion that gave him away, Hawkins said.
On Wednesday, deputies were called to a residence in Steens, Hawkins said. A man told deputies that two men entered his house while he was asleep and went to his 12-year-old daughter’s bedroom and restrained her with duct tape. They then allegedly stole several items and fled.
