A call center on East 25th Avenue has closed its doors.
The business, last known as iQor, first opened its doors as N.E.W Customer Service Cos. Inc. on April 6, 2009, in the former Martin’s Food Market building on 25th Avenue, which it leased from Twenty-Fifth Avenue LLC.
In 2009, the company said it planned to bring 480 customer care jobs to Altoona. In 2010, the company announced it had 200 employees and had plans to add 225 more by the end of that year.
The name of the call center, which was home to a customer care team responsible for fielding and managing in-bound consumer calls for retail customers, was changed to Asurion, the name of N.E.W.’s parent company in 2013.
In 2017, St. Petersburg, Fla-based iQor, a global provider of business process outsourcing and product support services, entered into an agreement to acquire a portion of Asurion’s customer support operations, including the Altoona…
