Mary Hadley opened the pottery business in 1942 so she could sell her original pieces. The current owner said soaring costs have made it impossible to keep it open.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When the Butchertown business said it would be closing its doors towards the end of the year, customers headed to the store as fast as possible.
Hadley Pottery said while the business will still accept orders until April 6, it would have to close its doors by the end of 2022 according to its Facebook post. Any orders the employees can’t complete by the time they close will be issued a refund or a replacement.
The current owner, 48-year-old Jerry Day, said the cost of materials, machine repairs and replacement and other soaring costs have made it impossible to stay in business.
