That was the first thing that entered Roni Minter’s mind after walking into the Dollar General on South Pearl Street on Tuesday.
Minter, who lives on North Pearl Street and had an appointment at a nearby clinic on South Pearl, only stopped in because a granddaughter wanted to. Minter, who uses gender-neutral pronouns, said they were flabbergasted.
Christmas wrapping and boxes were strewn about the floor. Many shelves were empty even as loose merchandise cluttered the floors. Minter, on an electric scooter, had to push past boxes and metal carts to get from one end of the aisle to the other.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” Minter said. “It is a train wreck.”
Feeling dismayed, Minter decided to take a video of the scene.
